Club student Ali is profoundly deaf and wears implants to hear the outside world; when training he has to take them off and he’s on his own.


That said, he is teaching me sign language and in the short time he’s been with us, I’ve learned the alphabet, some phrases and Jiu Jitsu positions, which really helps Ali and makes him part of the team.

He’s also entering his first competition in October at the Street Fighter 2 event 🙂


It’s an honour having Ali on the team, he’s a real credit to himself and our club and an ambassador for young deaf people, showing everyone how accessible Jiu Jitsu is for deaf people 🙅‍♂️🙅‍♂️🙅‍♂️
